Gotham Academy’s New Mean Girls (Part 2: The Batfamily Is Concerned)

The Batfamily notices something is off.

It starts small.

Damian is… leaving on time.

No brooding.
No extra patrol requests.
No suspiciously violent “training sessions.”

Just—

“TT. I have plans.”

Plans.

Plural.

Dick nearly drops his escrima sticks.

Tim is the first to investigate.

Because of course he is.

A quick check of school cameras shows Damian walking with three students.

New students.

Unknown.

Suspicious.

Tim zooms in.

Danny — relaxed, hands in pockets.
Tucker — talking animatedly.
Sam — staring at someone like she’s already judged their entire existence.

Tim narrows his eyes.

“…Oh, this is either very good or very bad.”

Jason gets looped in next.

He watches five seconds of footage.

“Oh I like them.”

Tim pauses.

“You don’t even know them.”

Jason points at the screen where a group of students immediately scatter as Sam steps forward slightly.

“They’ve got presence. Respect.”

Bruce reviews the footage last.

Damian walking with them.

Talking.

Listening.

Not arguing.

Bruce frowns.

“This is unusual.”

The next day, they escalate.

Full background checks.

And that’s when things get weird.

Danny Fenton — barely any digital footprint.
Sam Manson — normal, but intense.
Tucker Foley — tech-savvy, but clean.

Too clean.

Tim leans back slowly.

“I don’t like this.”

Bruce nods.

“Neither do I.”

Jason grins.

“I like them more now.”

Meanwhile, at Gotham Academy—

Damian is sitting with them at lunch.

It’s… nice.

Danny is complaining about cafeteria food like it personally offended him.
Tucker is explaining some conspiracy theory about school funding.
Sam is quietly judging everyone in a ten-foot radius.

Damian finds it… calming.

No expectations.

No legacy.

Just—

existing.

Until someone tries again.

A different group.

Same mistake.

They start making comments.

Not loud.

Not obvious.

But enough.

Damian’s eyes narrow.

He’s about to stand—

When Danny casually leans back in his chair.

“Hey.”

That’s it.

Just one word.

The entire table goes quiet.

Tucker looks over.

“You guys really don’t learn, huh?”

Sam doesn’t even raise her voice.

She just stares.

The kind of stare that promises consequences.

The bullies back off instantly.

Again.

Across the street, perched on a rooftop—

Tim lowers his binoculars.

“…They didn’t even threaten them.”

Jason snorts.

“Didn’t need to.”

Bruce watches silently.

Damian returns to eating like nothing happened.

Relaxed.

Comfortable.

Safe.

Bruce exhales slowly.

“…They’re protecting him.”

Tim nods.

“Yeah.”

Jason crosses his arms.

“Told you. I like them.”

That evening—

Damian walks into the Manor.

Dick immediately appears.

“So. Friends.”

Damian stiffens.

“They are merely acquaintances.”

Jason leans in from the couch.

“You eat lunch with them every day.”

Silence.

Tim smirks.

“They defend you.”

More silence.

Bruce speaks last.

“You trust them.”

Damian hesitates.

“…Yes.”

The room goes quiet.

Because that—

That means everything.

Jason grins.

“Well now we gotta meet them.”

Damian’s eyes widen slightly.

“…No.”

Too late.

The Batfamily has decided.

They are going to meet Damian’s “normal” friends.

And absolutely nothing about this is going to go normally.
